The President of Academic Staff Union of Universities (Asuu), Prof. Biodun Ogunyemi, has called on the striking academic staff of the Nigerian public universities to get ready for a long strike as the Federal Government is yet to show any commitment in rescuing public schools from collapsing. He urged Asuu members “to be on the watch and prepare for a long drawn out struggle to salvage the University System”.

2. Buhari Returns Home From Poland Trip

President Muhammadu Buhari o Wednesday night returned to Abuja from Poland, where he participated in the opening of the United Nations Climate Change Conference in Katowice. While in Poland, the President delivered his national address at the 12-day meeting of COP24, and met with several world leaders. He also visited the impressive Nigerian pavilion at the climate summit.

3. God Will Punish Obasanjo, Atiku Thoroughly In 2019 – Oshiomhole

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Adams Oshiomhole, has reminded ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo that he said God should punish him if he ever supported Atiku Abubakar. Speaking while hosting APC women leaders from Edo, the former Edo governor stated that Nigeria could not afford to return to the era when owners of private jets had business addresses but just because they had connections with the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation or the likes.

4.  Army Deploys Additional Troops In Borno To Combat Boko Haram

More troops have been deployed in Jakana, a town in Konduga area of Borno state in Nigeria’s northeast region, following reports that Boko Haram plans to attack the town. It was learned that many soldiers tied to the Operation Lafiya Dole squad were seen with heavy offensive artillery.

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has mocked reports that President Muhammadu Buhari died in London and was replaced as Jubril Al Sudani from Sudan. The self-acclaimed leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, had on numerous occasion claimed that Buhari had died during his medical vacation last year and was replaced by Jubril.

6.  Fayose Involved In Auto Crash In Lagos

Immediate past Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose, was on Wednesday involved in an auto crash on Third Mainland Bridge in Lagos. According to his Media aide Lere Olayinka, the former governor is in stable condition and receiving medical attention at an undisclosed hospital in Lagos.

7.  Saraki Urges Buhari To Sign Electoral Act Amendment Bill

Senate President, Bukola Saraki has urged President Muhammadu Buhari to ignore the advice of anti-democratic elements who are putting pressure on him not to give assent to the 2018 Electoral Bill. Saraki in a statement in Ilorin on Wednesday signed by his Special Adviser, Media and Publicity, Yusuph Olaniyonu, urged the President to rise above petty politics and act without further delay in the best interest of the country and its democracy by signing the Electoral Bill into law.

8. Tinubu: Why APC Chieftain Refused To Lead Buhari Campaign Revealed

Bigwig of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Ahmed Tinubu has purportedly rejected an appeal to him by the party to lead the campaign of President Muhammadu Buhari for the 2019 elections. It was learned that Tinubu said while he would do everything to ensure Buhari wins, he wants to focus his attention on the South-West region.
